Thanks to support from its partners and loyal fans, JTG Daugherty Racing embarks upon its fourth full-time year of competition as a Toyota team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series during 2012. The team’s drive and determination to be at the pinnacle of the sport was spotlighted during their first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2008 after years of hard work in the NASCAR Nationwide Series where they own four victories. Overall, JTG Daugherty Racing has competed in NASCAR for 17 seasons and looks forward to a new year with driver Bobby Labonte.
Labonte joined the team in 2011 and gladly returns for a second season with the team co-owned by Jodi and Tad Geschickter and five-time NBA All-Star and ESPN analyst Brad Daugherty. Before 2012, Labonte recorded 21 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victories, 10 NASCAR Nationwide Series wins and a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win. He also amassed 21 pole awards, 115 top-five and 201 top-10 finishes.
His name is synonymous with champion. In 2000, the Corpus Christi, Texas-native was crowned the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion after an impressive four wins, 19 top-five and 24 top-10 finishes with Joe Gibbs Racing. The very next year he added to his accolades by winning the IROC Championship. He is also the 1991 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion. Ten years prior, he was hoisting a trophy for winning a Late Model Championship that helped pave the way to a successful career in NASCAR.
Today, Labonte sets sail for a new chapter working alongside crew chief and general manager Todd Berrier and the entire JTG Daugherty Racing Toyota team housed in Harrisburg, N.C.
Labonte and the JTG Daugherty Racing team want to thank all of the fans and partners for their continued support in 2012. See you at the track!
